About this event
Join the Museum at the John Brown House on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11 am, for Two Rogers: Hope and Consequence, a unique living history presentation in which visitors will encounter founder Roger Williams at two pivotal moments in his life. In 1645, a younger Williams looks upon Rhode Island as “A Place to Begin,” giving thanks for the land, people, and opportunity to build something new. Twenty years later, an older Williams asks “What Has Endured?” Looking back on friendships and conflicts, successes and disappointments, he considers what became of those early hopes. Featuring portrayals by Daniel Perkins and John McNiff, Two Rogers explores Thanksgiving not as a holiday, but as a question: after nearly 30 years of the Rhode Island experiment, what should Roger Williams give thanks for?
This program is offered as a part of the museum’s annual Open House. This year’s program is inspired by the Mary Williams exhibit, and is a family-friendly event that offers a captivating look at Rhode Island’s early history. Throughout open hours of 10am – 4pm, visitors can also enjoy ongoing historical clothing discussions with living historian Kristel Henry, who will explore the layers and stories behind 17th-century women’s garments. Younger visitors can join in historical crafts, and the museum galleries will be open for exploring.
Registration for the 11 am talk is limited and registration is strongly suggested. Guests can register here .
