About this event
Why it matters: Solar developer ConEdison proposes to clear-cut Pine Barrens forest, and denude large areas of natural habitat for large ground mounted solar. This iconic landscape is located on steep slopes above the Weweantic River; ancient Native American trails and wildlife habitat will be lost, and downstream residents’ wells will be under threat, if the project goes through. For eight years, Wareham Residents have provided overwhelming evidence of poor project siting, and both the Planning Board and the Conservation Commission denied the project. Now, the developer is suing the town in courts, and CLWC is fighting off the wetlands permit the state ordered to go through.
How you can help: Attend the Superior Court hearing on the wetlands case and support CLWC and residents as we fight this poorly sited solar project. Join our Coalition, Responsible Solar Massachusetts , to fight for better solar siting across the state.
