About this event
In July 2026, the University released the report and recommendations of the Generative AI in Teaching and Learning (GAITL) Committee, and in August 2026, GAITL Phase 2 released syllabus policy examples and an AI policy explorer to support faculty in developing AI policies for their courses. As the next step in this process, committee members will host a series of collaborative discussions throughout the fall semester with faculty, staff and students. On Wednesday, November 11, from noon to 1 p.m. in at 225 Dyer, Room 565, faculty are invited to join committee co-chairs Michael Littman, associate provost for AI and university professor of computer science, and Ravit Reichman, associate professor of English, to share feedback on the report and its recommendations; provide input on resources they are seeking from the University related to GenAI; and engage with committee members in discussion about whether the University should adopt an institution-wide default policy on GenAI use in educational settings and what shape such a policy might take. We plan to hold additional meetings this fall, which we will announce as they are confirmed. Community members are also invited to submit their feedback online.recommendations; provide input on resources they are seeking from the University related to GenAI; and engage with committee members in discussion about whether the University should adopt an institution-wide default policy on GenAI use in educational settings and what shape such a policy might take.
