CCRI and Senesco Marine launch a free welding training program for a new ferry
The 5AM Pawtucket team
If you've thought about welding as a career, CCRI has a new option. Senesco Marine of North Kingstown and the Community College of Rhode Island announced the program Monday, and Polaris MEP is paying for it.
$78.6 millionferry contract behind the new program
Senesco Marine's contract with the Delaware River and Bay Authority created the need for more welders.
The company needs welders for that contract. Senesco expects construction to last through summer 2029, so dozens of students can take the course before the ferry is complete.
“We’re actually getting in there and trying it ourselves.”
